According to data from Ember Energy, in 2022, Indonesia relied on fossil fuel for 80% of its electricity and generated only 20% of its electricity from clean sources, below the global average of 39%. Hydro power, at 8%, is Indonesia’s largest clean electricity source, while wind and solar make up only 0,2%, far below the global average of 13%.
Despite this low uptake, Indonesia holds enormous potential for renewable energy. The Just Energy Transition Partnership (JET-P) draft plan aims to increase the renewable shares to at least 44% by 2030. However, this is still below the global target of 60% renewable electricity suggested in the IEA Net Zero Emissions scenario and overlooks the country’s largely untapped renewable potential.
Xurya (PT Xurya Daya Indonesia) is a leading renewable energy company with a vision to revolutionize the Indonesia energy industry. Pioneering a zero initial cost rooftop solar rental, Xurya encourages commercial and industrial companies to switch to solar energy. With over six years of trusted service, Xurya makes it easier for companies to use clean and renewable energy by providing complete solutions to clients, from rental options, technical design, feasibility study, installation, operation, and maintenance.
Elevate Business with Solar Energy for a Sustainable Future
Founded in 2018, Xurya has made solar energy more accessible for commercial and industrial companies by introducing Indonesia’s first no-initial-cost rooftop solar rental scheme. This innovation allows businesses to embrace solar power without upfront investments. Additionally, Xurya also offers feasibility study, engineering design customized to each building, accurate energy production prediction, installation process, as well as operation and maintenance. Xurya has integrated Internet of Things (IoT) technology for real time monitoring of rooftop solar installations. Their smart IoT Monitoring System can track solar production, system status, and notify problems to users.
Xurya’s on-grid solar system is designed to maximize energy efficiency and reduce electricity bills, with components like solar modules that capture solar energy from sunlight, solar inverter that convert energy to AC power, zero export systems that prevent electricity backflow, and a grid that provides electricity when power is not enough. Additionally, battery storage allows businesses to use the solar energy whenever they need, such as at night, during blackout, or at peak tariff period.
While Xurya currently focuses on serving the commercial and industrial segment, they may expand into residential services in the future. For businesses, rooftop solar not only saves on electricity bills, but also accelerates implementation of sustainability strategy with an average installation time of just five to six months for a size of 1 MWp. With an at least 25 year performance guarantee of the solar module, Xurya’s offerings provide long-term value, durability, and a seamless transition to clean energy.
Creating Positive Impact for the Environment and Communities
Xurya has earned global recognition for its impact in renewable energy and sustainability development. The company has been featured in over 500 news publications and was listed on Forbes Asia 100 to Watch in construction and engineering category. They also received the Best Impact Entrepreneur ESG Award 2024 from Yayasan Kehati, the Best C&I Project Award from Huawei Indonesia, and Top Startup G20 Digital Innovation Network 2022 in green & renewable energy category.
Xurya has helped more than 100 businesses in Indonesia to install solar systems and is trusted by local and multinational brands. As of March 2024, Xurya’s solar installations have generated 171 million kWh of green energy annually, reducing carbon emission by 153 million kg CO2 per year, equivalent to planting more than two million trees. With 179 operational PLTS sites, Xurya has contributed to create 13,500 green jobs and the green energy they produce is equal to electricity consumed by 117,000 homes (with average Indonesian homes electricity consumption of 1462 kWh per year). Beyond its environmental impact, Xurya also committed to human improvement through in-house training, seminars, training programs with vocational schools and with EPCs (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) across Indonesia.
Xurya’s achievement and impact highlight its role in the renewable energy movement. Through their initiatives and commitment, Xurya has dedicated itself to reducing carbon emissions, expanding clean energy access, and creating green jobs for a cleaner, more sustainable future for Indonesia.
